Practices are usually in the afternoon or early evening after school between 4pm and 8pm.
Practices are held indoors in Pacific Palisades at our Fierce Gym. Games however are dependent upon event host and are usually held in the valley at Burbank High School, Emek Academy and Cal State Northridge as well as in the South Bay in Torrance, Carson, Cerritos and Anaheim.
We offer 3 weekly practices, each focusing on different aspects of the game: skill development, situational play, and game preparation/readiness. We understand that other commitments may interfere with this schedule. For attendance, we expect players to participate in at least two practices per week. This minimum requirement ensures they maintain progress toward both short and long-term improvement goals while developing team chemistry. For players to fully benefit from our development pathway, we ask for at least 80% overall participation.

Generally speaking, kids do not need extensive basketball experience or training to participate in our program but should demonstrate basic fundamentals. If they wish to join a travel ball team, they should show their ability to execute defensive schemes, game strategies and satisfactory skill level during the tryout. We are a dedicated development program focused on both short and long-term basketball improvement goals, ensuring your child benefits regardless of their entry level.
Team roster determination is based on two criteria:
While we understand the desire for siblings to play together, it's not always possible or beneficial for their individual growth or team dynamic. We assess each case individually, considering both age and skill level, to make the best decision for all players involved.
As a policy, we do not offer discounts or refunds for missed participation days due to scheduling or commitment conflicts. Before you sign your student athlete up for So Cal Fierce Basketball and accept a spot on a team roster, please ensure your student athlete can commit to at least 80% participation. If your child's participation declines, we may ask that your child sign up only for development training sessions to free up a spot for another player. If you are starting our program later in the current season, we can offer to prorate fees when requested in advance.
We recognize that some players may want to participate in another basketball programs. However, from experience, we've seen this can create challenges for young athletes. Different coaching voices, playing styles, and program philosophies may conflict, potentially affecting skill development and consistency. In addition, missing practices and games due to schedule conflicts will significantly impact the child's production on the court. Many athletes develop more effectively when focusing on a single program. We're happy to discuss your specific situation to create the best experience for your child.
